Purpose of this information

This information describes how to use the TSO/E CLIST language to write programs called CLISTs. You can use CLISTs to perform a wide range of programming tasks on TSO/E.

Who should read this information

This information is intended for new and experienced CLIST programmers.

If you are a new user of the CLIST language, read each topic and try coding the examples.

If you are experienced with CLISTs, review the topics and familiarize yourself with the organization of this information. Then you will be able to refer to the appropriate topic when you have a question or want to refresh your memory.

To use the CLIST language effectively, you should be familiar with TSO/E commands. Familiarity with the Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) is also helpful. For information about TSO/E commands, see z/OS TSO/E Command Reference.
