The TSO/E Environment

z/OS TSO/E Programming Guide
SA32-0981-00

When a user logs on to TSO/E, the program specified on the EXEC statement of the user's LOGON procedure is attached during logon processing as the TMP. After the logon is complete, the TMP writes a READY message to the terminal to request that the terminal user enters a command name. The TMP determines whether the user's response is a command name. If a command is entered, the TMP attaches the requested command processor and the command processor then performs the functions requested by the user.
