The pre-list exit receives control before LISTBC associates (allocates) the user log data set name to a ddname and opens the user log. You can use the LISTBC pre-list exit to change the name of the user log.

You can also use the pre-list exit with the LISTBC pre-read exit to perform your own file I/O. The pre-list exit can open the log data set.
