Service time is accumulated from the time MVS™ issues a CF command to the CF until the return from the command is recognized by MVS. It includes the time spent on the CF links, the processing within the CF and time for MVS to recognize that the command has completed. Service time in microseconds is recorded for each structure used by each system.

Given the model numbers in the header of each column, Table 1 shows the best service times you could possibly expect given the model numbers in the header of each column, a sender of that model, across the fastest link technology available on that model to a CF of the same technology. The lower number in each range applies to requests with little or no data to transfer (such as lock requests). The higher number to the requests with larger amounts of data (such as DB2® cache updates).
