z/OS MVS Setting Up a Sysplex
SA23-1399-00

To make decisions on maximum message buffer space, you need to understand the peak message traffic loads, distributions of messages among the systems in the sysplex, the sizes of those messages, and the consequences of having a message request rejected due to a lack of buffer space. A measurement tool such as RMF™ is helpful in determining message traffic patterns and loads. For information about RMF reports, see Tuning a sysplex.
