Like VSAM RLS, DFSMStvs does not support the following options and capabilities:
  • Linear data sets
  • Control interval access (CNV) for any data set organization.
  • Addressed access to a KSDS (relative byte address or relative record address)
  • Access to key-range data sets
  • Access to clusters with the IMBED attribute
  • Access to temporary data sets
  • Access using the ISAM compatibility interface
  • Opening the individual components of a cluster
  • Direct open of an alternate index
  • GETIX and PUTIX macros
  • Checkpoint/restart facility
  • Catalogs accessed in RLS or DFSMStvs mode
  • VSAM volume data sets (VVDS) accessed in RLS or DFSMStvs mode
  • The ACBSDS specification
  • Implicit positioning when a data set is opened (explicit POINT or GET NSP request required)
  • Hiperbatch
  • ADR MACRF option for a KSDS
  • CFX MACRF option (ignored; NFX assumed)
  • DDN or DSN MACRF options (ignored)
