Deleting a VVDS Permanently z/OS DFSMS Managing Catalogs SC23-6853-00 |
|
A VVDS must be connected to a BCS before it can be deleted. A VVDS must be empty (contain only self-describing entries) before it can be permanently deleted. You cannot permanently delete a VVDS on an SMS-managed volume unless the volume is empty of data sets, because all managed data sets must have VVDS entries. If the VVDS is not connected to any BCS, use DEFINE RECATALOG to catalog the VVDS. Alternatively, define a catalog cluster on the volume with the VVDS. This catalogs the VVDS in the BCS. |
