Coding Considerations
  1. The console parameter must be the same as the name of an MCS console or an extended MCS console.
  2. JES3 will not remove routing code 9 (security) from a message, even when the ,J option is specified in the MSGROUTE entry used for the message.

Restart or Command Modification
  • Hot start with refresh for all parameters.
  • You can use the JES3 *INQUIRY,M and *MODIFY,M commands to inquire about, and dynamically change the mappings of MVS™ routing codes and JES3 destination classes.

The following chart shows the parameters you should include or omit to route messages to the desired destination:

To route messages: Use these parameters:
To the original destination(s) specified by the message issuer Omit destclass, console, J, or omit the routing code.
To a specific console Specify console and any other parameters.
To the specified destination class/routing code in place of the routing code(s) specified by the message issuer Specify J and any other parameters.
To the specified destination class/routing code in addition to the routing code(s) specified by the message issuer Omit J. Specify any other parameters.
To only the hardcopy log Specify J only.
