JES2 issues this message in response to a:
  • $D or $T command that specified the LINE(nnnn) initialization statement.
  • $DU command that either implicitly or explicitly specified the LINE(nnnn) initialization statement.
  • $S, $P, or $E command that specified LINE(nnnn) devices.

If this message is issued in response to a $DU, $S, $P, or $E command, only UNIT= and STATUS= may be displayed. Otherwise, the message displays all the keywords on the LINE(nnnn) statement that are related to this type of line (SNA or BSC, as defined by the UNIT= parameter) and their current values. The description of the LINE(nnnn) statement in z/OS JES2 Initialization and Tuning Reference explains most of the keywords. Further information can be found under $HASP603.

In the message text:
lna
The line number.
dev|SNA
Specifies a 4-digit hexadecimal device number for a binary synchronous communication (BSC) line. For system network architecture (SNA) lines, UNIT=SNA.
status
The status of the device. The values for status are:
  • DRAINED/rname
  • DRAINING/rname
  • INACTIVE/rname or nname
  • ACTIVE/rname or nname
  • SIGNON/nname
  • SIGNON/AWAITING-MAS(member-name) nname
  • SIGNON/AWAITING-ncc or nname
keyword
The name of the keyword.
value
The value of the keyword. See z/OS JES2 Initialization and Tuning Reference for an explanation of most keywords.
This keyword might be DISCON={QUIESCE | INTERRUPT | NO} which is a ‘display only’ keyword. DISCON= displays the disconnect status for the line with possible values of:
Value
Meaning
NO
The line is not in the process of disconnecting
QUIESCE
When the current work on the line completes, the line will disconnect
INTERRUPT
The line is interrupting the current transmission and when complete will disconnect the line.

The STATUS= keyword displays the current status of the device. The possible values for status are listed below, where rname or nname is optionally displayed, indicating the remote name (RMTnnnn) or node name for which the line is currently in use or permanently assigned.

In the STATUS= text:
member-name
The name of the member of the local MAS, or list of member names, from which signon responses are required before the signon can complete.
ncc
The NCC record type (J, K, or L) next expected from node nname to allow the signon to continue.

System action

Processing continues.

Operator response

None.
