>>-NO ACTIVE SPOOL VOLUMES-------------------------------------><

A request for JES2 direct access spool space cannot be processed. One of the following conditions is true:
  • There are no SPOOL volumes allocated to JES2. (Check the definition of the VOLUME= parameter on the SPOOLDEF initialization statement).
  • There are no active volumes. That is, all volumes are halting, draining, or INACTIVE.

This message is issued approximately every 30 seconds to the console by the first member to detect the shortage that also has the checkpoint. Because this resource is monitored on a MAS-wide basis, the operator will not see redundant messages issued to the console by every member if the MVS™ MSCOPE=(*ALL) command was specified, but messages from all members are written to hardcopy. If MSCOPE=(*ALL) was not specified in the MVS CONSOLxx PARMLIB member, the operator might not see this message.

System action

The system suspends JES2 processors and users of JES2 services that require direct access space, until a volume becomes active.

Operator response

Add a spool volume (using the $S SPL command) or make an already existing volume active by issuing a $S SPL command.
