Prompts from the client

z/OS Communications Server: IP Programmer's Guide and Reference
SC27-3659-02

Some z/OS® FTP client subcommands cause the client to prompt the user for more input. For example, processing the USER subcommand causes the client to prompt for a password after sending a USER command to the FTP server. Prompt behavior changes when the z/OS FTP client is invoked from the FTP client API.

As shown in Parameter values that are returned to the application, some prompts affect status codes returned by the interface. See Interpreting results from an interface request for more information about status codes. The following sections describe the current prompt situations for the FTP client and how they are handled by the FTP client API.
