Using a SOCKS server

z/OS Communications Server: IP User's Guide and Commands
SC27-3662-00

You can configure the FTP client to access FTP servers through a SOCKS server. When entering FTP through a SOCKS server, the FTP client establishes a connection with the SOCKS server and then the SOCKS server establishes a connection to the FTP server. All data and commands for the FTP session are relayed through the SOCKS server. A SOCKS server can be configured to log all FTP connections and permit or deny access to certain FTP servers. See Configuring the FTP client for SOCKS server for more information.
