GLBD: unable to listen on type address family

Explanation

The Global Location Broker Daemon (GLBD), which controls the Global Location Broker database, which helps clients locate servers on the network, is unable to listen on a socket. The Berkeley socket concept is used for the Network Computing System (NCS), of which the GLBD is a part. Sockets are identified by a socket address composed of an address family, which defines the structure of the address, network address (host address), and port number (endpoint address). This message indicates that the GLBD cannot find a socket address for the indicated address family. No requests can be received over the socket.

System action

TCPIP continues.

Operator response

Notify the system programmer of the error.

System programmer response

Check the physical connections between the host and the network. Check to make sure that the indicated socket is available to the GLBD. For more information about the GLBD, see the z/OS Communications Server: IP Configuration Reference.
