TAKESOCKET z/OS Communications Server: IP IMS Sockets Guide SC27-3653-00 |

The TAKESOCKET call acquires a socket from another program
and creates a new socket. Typically, a child server issues this call
using client ID and socket descriptor data that it obtained from the
concurrent server. See GIVESOCKET for
a discussion of the use of GETSOCKET and TAKESOCKET calls.
Note: When
TAKESOCKET is issued, a new socket descriptor is returned in RETCODE.
You should use this new socket descriptor in subsequent calls such
as GETSOCKOPT, which require the S (socket descriptor) parameter.
