The FORMAT command displays the storage in both hexadecimal and EBCDIC, the way you might see the format in a data dump (see Figure 1). When data is displayed in wide format (see WIDE command), the format includes 16 bytes per line (8 sets of 4 bytes). When data is displayed in narrow format (see NARROW command), the format contains 8 bytes per line (4 sets of 4 bytes). FORMAT is the default format that appears whenever a storage browse session is started. Figure 1. Storage Viewed in FORMAT
