C — compress data set

If you select option C, you can specify any partitioned data set. The compress function is not valid for a PDSE. The compress is accomplished by calling either of these:

The IEBCOPY utility
An optional compress request exit routine, which can be specified by your installation.

Using this option can change an existing data set allocation to exclusive.

ISPF allocates the IEBCOPY SYSUT3 and SYSUT4 data sets as one primary cylinder, one secondary cylinder. If this is not sufficient for your compress request, these DDNAMES can be preallocated.
