ISPF attaches a command invoked through the SELECT command, ISPF option 6, or TSO command. The search sequence for locating the command is shown in Figure 1.

This flowchart shows the questions asked when working out which search sequence to use to find the command. If the command is defined in the TCM as a command processor, then the standard search sequence is used, see the ISPF Services Guide. Otherwise, if a BLDL is not required, then the command must be a CLIST, so attach the EXEC. Otherwise (a BLDL is required), is LIBDEF(ISPLLIB) specified? If it is, then do BLDL on LIBDEF library. If not found, and LIBDEF is not EXCLUSIVE, then do BLDL with DBC=) on these libraries: ISPLLIB, STEPLIB/JOBLIB, and LINKLIB. If not found, attach EXEC. If LIBDEF(ISPLLIB) is not specified, do BLDL with DBC=0 on these libraries: ISPLLIB, STEPLIB/JOBLIB, and LINKLIB. If not found, attach EXEC.
