SMI-S profilesThe Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) was developed by members of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and defines an interface for the secure, extensible, and interoperable management of a distributed and heterogeneous storage system. The specification describes the information available to a WBEM client from an SMI-S compliant CIM WBEM server. The SMI-S specifies standards-based profiles to manage storage networks. It builds on other standards such a CIM. The scope of SMI-S includes storage, storage virtualizers, fibre channel fabrics and IP connectivity, and host storage-specific CIM-based profiles. The host storage portion of the specification defines profiles for the management of host-based storage devices. CIM for z/OS supports the host-based storage profiles:
