Figure 1 summarizes the terminology used with Language Environment to describe passing parameters to and from routines. In Figure 1, a calling routine passes an argument list to a called routine. That same list is referred to as a parameter list when it is received by the called routine. Under Language Environment, the formats of the argument and parameter lists are identical. The only difference between the two terms is whether they are being used from the point of view of the calling or the called routine.
