You need to have root authority for Linux in order to mount and unmount the partitions, as well as to format and partition the volumes using dasdfmt and fdasd. For z/OS®, you need authority to submit DFSMShsm commands and, optionally, to run ADRDSSU, which is the program that is invoked when using DFSMSdss. z/OS sees the Linux partitions as data sets. You can prevent unauthorized access of the Linux partitions by z/OS applications and users by using the IBM® RACF®, a component of the Security Server for z/OS.
