Recovering or restoring RACF-indicated data sets

When you use the RECOVER or HRECOVER command to recover or restore a RACF-indicated, cataloged, non-VSAM data set and the target volume is different from the source volume, DFSMShsm changes the volume serial number and device type information in the RACF® discrete data set profile to indicate the volume where DFSMShsm has recovered the data set.

If the attempt to change a profile fails because the profile cannot be found, DFSMShsm attempts to recover a backed up profile for the recovered data set.

When a RACF naming conversion table converts a data set name to a different profile name, DFSMShsm will not be able to recover the discrete profile. The RACF administrator will need to enable access.
