IM IBM InfoSphere Global Name Management, Version 5.0

Introducing Enterprise Name Search

Enterprise Name Search provides an infrastructure for distributing high volume, large-scale, enterprise name searches across very large name lists. This version 5.0 feature leverages IBM NameWorks for efficient name search function, name list management, and to configure, manage and monitor the name search process. Enterprise Name Search provides added options for horizontal scaling based on performance needs, deployment with high availability and failover, and Web service-based interfaces for client integration with third-party software and existing legacy systems.

Enterprise Name Search (ENS) reduces the complexity of installation, configuration, and maintenance usually associated with managing such large-scale deployments. The system uses modular components that share a common database, enabling users to configure, manage, and monitoring search related components and functions from a Web application interface. You can run on a single host or multiple homogeneous hosts as needed. The parallel architecture includes one or more dispatcher components that accept Web services requests, using JSON or XML for search clients, then dispatch the requests across one or more searcher components to perform the name search.

Enterprise Name Search makes it easier and more efficient to manage, maintain, and perform name searches against one or more potentially large lists of names and produce a complete and valid list of matching names with references. If you have a large collection of names, you can access and monitor resources, then split the collection up to run more efficiently across searchers.

Enterprise Name Search is designed to enable or improve the following types of end-to-end search-related administrator and end-user tasks:
