DB2 Version 10.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

db2IdentifyType1 command has been deprecated

The db2IdentifyType1 command has been deprecated and might be removed in a future release.

Details

In Version 9.7, the db2IdentifyType1 command was provided to help you convert type-1 indexes to type-2 before upgrading to Version 9.7.

Type-1 indexes were discontinued in Version 9.7. During the database upgrade, type-1 indexes were marked as invalid and automatically rebuilt after the first access to a database or database restart. Therefore, converting type-1 indexes before the upgrade eliminated the overhead of the automatic rebuild.

In Version 10.1, you would use the db2IdentifyType1 command only before upgrading Version 9.5 databases. Version 9.7 databases no longer have type-1 indexes.

Resolution

If you are upgrading from Version 9.5 to Version 10.1, use this command to generate a script to help you convert your type-1 indexes to type-2 before the upgrade. For details on how to use this command, see Converting type-1 indexes to type-2 indexes.
