DB2 Version 10.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

-file parameter of the db2flsn and db2rfpen commands has been discontinued

The -file parameter of the db2flsn and db2rfpen commands has been discontinued. You must use the -path parameter instead.

Details

The -file parameter was discontinued because you could specify only one log control file (SQLOGCTL.LFH.1 or SQLOGCTL.LFH.2) with the parameter. For the db2rfpen command, specifying only one log control file can result in an inconsistency between the two log control files which can lead to potential data consistency issues in the database. For the db2flsn command, if there is a problem with the file specified then an error is returned.

The -path parameter specifies the full path to the directory where the log control files, SQLOGCTL.LFH.1 and its mirror copy SQLOGCTL.LFH.2, reside. Using a path for the db2rfpen command means that both log control files in the path are updated. Using a path for the db2flsn command means that if there is a problem reading one of the files, the other one is used instead.

Resolution

Use the database_alias parameter or the -path parameter instead.
