Trace files

Trace files are used by SPL application developers to debug their applications or by IBM® Software Support to diagnose and correct InfoSphere® Streams issues. InfoSphere Streams collects trace data for each PE in a job.

The following table describes how Streams Studio retrieves trace data from InfoSphere Streams and their default name and location in the StreamsStudioLogs Eclipse project.

PE trace

You can retrieve the PE trace data and console data from the Streams Explorer view. Streams Studio retrieves the PE trace and console data and opens the PE trace file and the console log in the Console view.

Operator trace

You can retrieve the operator trace data from the Streams Explorer view. Streams Studio retrieves the operator trace data and opens the trace file in the Console view.
