Using the launchpad

The launchpad program provides a single location to install all applications in the package, and also installs IBM® Installation Manager if it is not already installed.

Before you begin

If you are installing on a Mac OS X (Mountain Lion or newer) system, before you start the launchpad, set the DISPLAY environment variable. To set the variable:
  1. Start the Terminal application.
  2. Set the DISPLAY environment variable by running the command: export DISPLAY=:0

Access the launchpad program from the download packages or the physical media.

Procedure

  1. Use either of the following methods to start the launchpad:
    • If you are using download packages: The launchpad program is in the launchpad directory that you extracted, for example, RTW_SETUP.
      • For Windows systems. Run launchpad.exe or launchpad64.exe (for 64-bit systems)
      • For Linux systems. Run launchpad.sh
      • For Mac OS X systems. From the command line terminal, run open Launchpad.app from the root directory of the Setup disk installation image..
        Note: Mac OS commands are case-sensitive.
    • If you are using physical media or DVDs.
      If you are running on Linux, mount the DVD drive. Insert the first product disk into your DVD drive. If autorun is enabled on your workstation, the launchpad program starts automatically. Otherwise, start the launchpad program manually.
      • For Windows systems. Run the launchpad.exe or launchpad64.exe (for 64-bit systems) command, which is in the root directory of the Setup disk installation image.
      • For Linux systems. Run the launchpad.sh command, which is in the root directory of the Setup disk installation image.
      • For Mac OS X systems. From the command line terminal, run open Launchpad.app from the root directory of the Setup disk installation image.
        Note: Mac OS commands are case-sensitive.
  2. Select the language for the installation program.
  3. Click Install IBM Rational® Test Workbench.

Results

If Installation Manager is not already installed, it is installed. After the installation is complete, the Installation Manager Install Packages page opens, where you select the packages to install and continue with the installation.
