Getting the installation media

To install the software, you must acquire the installation media. The installation media is available as downloadable archive files in the .iso or .zip format, or as physical box media in the form of DVDs. Log in to the IBM Passport Advantage website to download the media or to request DVDs. Depending on the capabilities that you want to use and the licenses that you purchased, you can download either the entire installation package or the components that you want to install.

About this task

You can choose to either download the media or you can request DVDs that contain the installation media. If you download the media, you can choose between a lightweight web installer or the entire installation media. The lightweight web installer contains the launchpad program to start the installation process, and needs an internet connection during the installation to download the remaining installation media. Alternatively, you can download the entire installation media including the launchpad program to your local environment and run the installation in offline mode.

Procedure

  1. Go to Passport Advantage Online at www.ibm.com/software/passportadvantage/.
  2. If you already have an IBM ID, log in by using the existing IBM ID. Else, register for a new IBM ID. If you are registering for the first time, you need the temporary passcode sent with your Proof of Entitlement.
  3. After you log in, you can view and download the software that you are entitled to, or you can request physical media for the software installation. If you are requesting physical media, you can skip the rest of this topic.
  4. If you are downloading the media, read the table below to see the installation packages and to select what to download. The installation media is available both as a combined package of all the components or as individual components.
    Tip:
    • If you use the IBM® Installation Manager launchpad program to start the installation, you must also download the Setup package. The Setup package contain the Installation Manager installation files and the launchpad program. When you run the launchpad program, Installation Manager is installed if it is not already installed on your computer. The launchpad program is a quick and easy way of choosing and installing your products. The launchpad program is configured with the names and locations of the installation files and you do not need to specify these manually.
    • If you have IBM Installation Manager , and you do not want to use the launchpad program, you do not require to download the setup program. Instead, you must configure repositories in Installation Manager to the paths of the downloaded and extracted packages. For information on configuring repositories, see

After you download the media, you must unpack the media to in a specific folder structure required by the installation program.
