Uninstalling Liberty offerings on z/OS

Use IBM® Installation Manager to uninstall copies of the product code for WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS® Liberty, Web Server Plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS, or IBM HTTP Server for z/OS.

Before you begin

Make sure that you no longer need this particular copy of the product code.

Procedure

  1. Mount the file system that contains the product code to be uninstalled at the installation location that Installation Manager used to install it.
  2. Uninstall the product offerings by using one of the following options.
    • To uninstall Liberty or IBM SDK, Java™ Technology Edition, Version 8, edit and submit the following jobs:
      • BBO2UNIN: Uninstall WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Liberty
      • BBO5UNIN: Uninstall IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8 from WebSphere Application Server Liberty
    • To uninstall any product offering, manually run the Installation Manager imcl uninstall command.

      1. Log in to the UNIX System Services shell under the Installation Manager user ID, and change the directory to the eclipse/tools subdirectory of the Installation Manager binaries location.
        For example:
        cd /InstallationManager/bin/eclipse/tools
      2. Run the imcl uninstall command.
        imcl uninstall offering_ID
          -installationDirectory installation_location
        For example:
        imcl uninstall com.ibm.websphere.liberty.zOS
          -installationDirectory /InstallationManager/products/WebSphere/Liberty/16.0.0.2

        Uninstallation is complete when the Installation Manager completes without error messages.

        Logs for the uninstallation can be found in the logs subdirectory of the Installation Manager runtime data location.

  3. When product uninstallation is complete, delete any remaining files from the product location.
