Flow of capacity data - disconnected VM Manager Tool

9.2.20 Available from 9.2.22

Disconnected VM Manager Tool is installed on any computer on which the disconnected scanner is installed. Capacity data from VM managers is manually transferred from the computer where the VM Manager Tool is installed to the folder that is defined as the disconnected data source. Then, it is uploaded to License Metric Tool during the import of data.

Number Step Frequency Comments
1. Changes in configuration of the VM Manager Tool or VM manager connections are made in the configuration files. After every change and reload of configuration The change is effective after you run the -reloadconfig command.
2. VM manager data is collected from VM managers by the VM Manager Tool. Every 30 minutes
Restriction: In case of subcapacity reporting, it is necessary to capture mobility of VMs. To ensure that it is captured, data from VM managers must be collected every 30 minutes. You can change the frequency of collecting data only if you use License Metric Tool for purposes other than subcapacity reporting.
3. Package with capacity data is created by running a script. Any The script is a part of the disconnected scanner. Thus, the disconnected scanner must be installed on the computer where the VM Manager Tool is installed.

For performance reasons, it is recommended to prepare the package with capacity data and upload it to License Metric Tool daily. A delay longer than two days causes that performance-intensive aggregation of data needs to be done on the License Metric Tool server.
