IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions, Version 7.4.0.0

Optimizing transaction tracking

In large-scale production environments, tracking every transaction that traverses the environment leads to the collection of vast amounts of information, which can be difficult to visualize in a single topology pane. There are many strategies that you can use to get more value from tracking transactions in your enterprise.

Ways to increase transaction tracking value

To increase the value of tracking transactions, try these steps:
  1. Reduce the total amount of information by removing the transactions that are not important, and grouping related transactions where it makes sense to do so.
  2. Establish a work flow that limits the display to only those transactions of interest.

See Best Practices for more information.

  3. Scale up the number of Transaction Reporter agents so that you can distribute the tracking information across multiple Transaction Reporter agents. For example, use one Transaction Reporter for front-end applications and one Transaction Reporter for back-end services.
