IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions, Version 7.4.0.0

Backing up and restoring configuration settings

Follow these steps to backup and restore your configuration settings defined with the Application Management Configuration Editor.

This section provides the following information:

Backing up configuration settings

Use the following procedure to back up your Application Management Configuration Editor configuration settings, such as profiles, applications, transactions, and maintenance schedules:
  1. Shut down the Application Management Console agent to ensure that no files are saved during the backup process.
  2. Back up the entire directory: $CANDLE_HOME/kt1depot/T3.
Note that the following files and directories are regenerated every time that the Application Management Console agent starts, so they do not necessarily need to be backed up or restored:
    • /TEMP/*.*
    • .index.xml (this file is regenerated when the agent starts)
    • filedepot.ser (this file is regenerated when the agent starts, but is no longer used in V7.3 and later versions)
    • camconfig/*.* (this directory is regenerated when the agent starts)
    • */compressed.encoded (some directories will contain this file, which is regenerated when the agent starts)
  3. Restart the Application Management Console agent.

Restoring configuration settings

Use the following procedure to restore your Application Management Configuration Editor configuration settings that have been previously backed up:
  1. Shut down the Application Management Console agent to ensure that no files are overwritten during the restore process.
  2. Copy the backed up files to the directory: $CANDLE_HOME/kt1depot/T3.
  3. Restart the Application Management Console agent.

If the depot has been restored to a different Application Management Console agent, or to a different IBM Tivoli Monitoring environment, the profile distribution lists might contain agents or managed system lists that do not exist in the new environment.
