Determining whether the system has logical partitions
Use this procedure to determine the existence of logical partitions.
To determine whether the system has logical partitions, follow these steps:
- Is the system managed by a management console?
- Yes: Continue with the next step.
- No: The system does not have logical partitions. Return to the procedure that sent you here. This ends the procedure.
- To determine whether the system has multiple logical partitions,
choose one of the following navigation options depending on the interface
type of the Hardware Management Console (HMC):
- If you are using an HMC Classic or HMC Enhanced interface,
complete the following steps:
- In the navigation area, expand Systems Management > Servers.
- To display the partitions, click the name of the managed system you are working with.
- If you are using an HMC Enhanced+ interface, complete the following steps:
- In the navigation area, click the HMC Management icon , and then click All Systems.
- To display the partitions, click the name of the managed system you are working with.
- If you are using an IVM interface, complete
the following steps:
- In the navigation area, click View/Modify Partitions under Partition Management. The View/Modify Partitions page is displayed.
- View the name of the partitions against the managed system you are working.
Is there more than one logical partition listed?- Yes: The system has multiple logical partitions. Return to the procedure that sent you here. This ends the procedure.
- No: The system does not have multiple logical partitions. Return to the procedure that sent you here. This ends the procedure.
- If you are using an HMC Classic or HMC Enhanced interface,
complete the following steps:
