APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Running impact analysis on COBOL artifacts will stop at 100,000
impacts and not complete, by current design, since continuing
could cause OutOfMemory conditions.

Local fix

  • Run the "COBOL Variable Usage"  report to find certain
variable(s) in context of program and includes, and then start
an impact analysis on those results.

Problem conclusion

  • Running impact analysis on COBOL artifacts will stop at 100,000
impacts and not complete, by current design, since continuing
could cause OutOfMemory conditions.

Temporary fix

  • A system variable can now be used to change the default limit
of 100,000 variables displayed in Impact Analysis.
The name of this variable is impact.wizard.count and must be
added in eclipse.ini file.
If is not present there or its value is not an integer number,
the default value of 100,000 will be used.
Be aware that a limit higher than 100,000 can cause OutOfMemory
errors in both wizard and/or when generating the report.
