**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: 01.All zOS Explorer and IDz users * * 02.All zOS Explorer and IDz users * * 03.All zOS Explorer and IDz users * * 04.zOS Explorer users that issue TSO * * commands. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 01.When multiple users using different * * host codepage settings are logged * * in to the same z/OS Explorer host * * process, some processing may use * * the codepage setting of the last * * logged-in user rather than the * * codepage setting of the appropriate * * user. * * 02.On zExplorer 3.0.1.7, The size * * property value of a MVS file is * * always 0 in client's property view * * and show-in-table view. * * 03.- A new code review for ICN 1459 * * (8-char TSO userids), shows that we * * need to change the definition to * * read/write the ISPF statistics area * * of each file. - ICN 1459 (which is * * an update to various other ICNs) * * documents TSO support for of 8-char * * userids in z/OS 2.3. Since we allow * * users to logon outside of TSO and * * then do things like they would in * * TSO, we must be able to determine * * before/during logon if an 8-char * * userid is acceptable for this * * system or not. * * 04.Enhancement to utilize the * * performance improvement offered by * * ISPF APAR OA52505 (z/OS 2.1) and * * OA52506 (z/OS 2.2). * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** 01.When multiple users using different host codepage settings are logged in to the same z/OS Explorer host process, some processing may use the codepage setting of the last logged-in user rather than the codepage setting of the appropriate user. This problem may cause several different symptoms, typically involving file resource names that include the @ and/or character, such as: Failed to open X1.rex in the editor. Reason: - CRRZI0354E Find a data set member failed. - CRRZI0355E Name not found 02.On zExplorer 3.0.1.7, The size property value is always 0 in client's property view and show-in-table view. zExplorer 3.0.1.7 host module does not set the size information correctly. 03.On zExplorer 3.0.1.7, The Last modified by field truncates the last byte of an 8 byte userid 04.Enhancement to utilize the performance improvement offered by ISPF APAR OA52505 (z/OS 2.1) and OA52506 (z/OS 2.2).
Problem conclusion
01.z/OS Explorer host modules have been updated to ensure that the unique host codepage setting for each user is used where appropriate, regardless of the codepage settings of other users who may be logged in to the same threadpool. 02.The host module has been updated to set the size information correctly. 03.The host module has been updated to display the ISPF statistics area correctly and a block has been put in place to prevent users from using an 8 byte userid to log in to a TSO system that doesn't support 8 byte userid. 04.Define environment variable CGI_ISPDEBUG_MIN (with any value) to instruct Legacy ISPF Gateway to not write envvars trace statements.
