Error description

  • ERROR DESCRIPTION:
If a user is not authorized to view or delete a job
from another user from IDz client, then a error message
    should state this clearly.
For this to happen, JMON had to be configured to
    LIMIT_COMMANDS=LIMITED.

Currently the following messages are issued
    - ICH408 RACF message in syslog
    - com.ibm.etools.zos.subsystem.jes.JMMinerConnection.command
    (JMMinerConnection.java:851):severity=8, msgNo=2005, message=Not
    authorized for job TSU24840
    - z/OS Explorer does actually post the error to the
status line (the message is "Not authorized for job <job id>").
The problem is that it is easy for the user to miss this
message as the status message can be replaced quickly after by
another message, for example corresponding to the selected job.

    solution:
IDz will be modified to put up a message dialog rather than
    updating the status line.

Local fix

  • search syslog for ICH408
    and
    user log for msgNo=2005

Problem summary

  • Users don't see error messages when failing to do job operations

Problem conclusion

  • The error messages are displayed on the status line but can
quickly get replaced by other messages so users may not see
them. To resolve this we will display the error messages in
    message dialogs.
