APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • in AD 5.0.5.2 on Windows, when building a project for some
programs we get :
Error [999] : Syntax error: 'PROCEDURE DIVISION header is
missing'
This happens when the PROCEDURE DIVISION is part of a COPYBOOK

Local fix

  • removing the copybook containing 'PROCEDURE DIVISION' statement
and adding in the cobol file the contents solves tha issue and
you won't receive same error anymore and build passes normally

Problem summary

  • The issue is generated by the fact that our compiler skips all
the information from the IDENTIFICATION DIVISION except
PROGRAM-ID. It skips everything until the next DIVISION is
found.

Problem conclusion

  • The issue is fixed and doesn't reproduce after AD Build Client
version 5.1.0.2.
