PH04574: IBM EXPLORER FOR Z/OS 3.1.1.12 DOES NOT IMPORT DATASETS MEMBERS AFTER THE DATASET HAS BEEN RECALLED

APAR status

Error description

• IBM Explorer for z/OS 3.1.1.12 does not import data set members
  after the migrated dataset has been recalled.
  
  Steps to reproduce :
  
  1) Connect to z/OS using Remote System Explorer
  2) Recall a migrated dataset
  3) Click on Import Data Structure
  4) Select Import from: z/OS System then 'Browse'
  5) Select a recalled dataset, then select a member + 'FINISH'
  6) The selected copybook is not imported
  
  Remark: IBM Explorer for z/OS does not state that the selected
  dataset is migrated and needs to be recalled.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• When using an RSE z/OS connection to browse data sets in the
  "Data Sets" view - from the "z/OS" perspective - migrated data
  sets are not marked as 'migrated' and don't provide a 'recall'
  action.
  

Problem conclusion

• Migrated data sets browsed in the "Data Sets" view via an RSE
  z/OS connection were not recognized as such.  Migrated data sets
   don't have the same properties as other data sets and, because
  they were not being recognized as migrated, it was possible to
  hit unexpected exceptions due to missing information.  Also
  users could not recall the data sets from this via because no
  recall action is available when a data set isn't recognized as
  migrated.
