  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The client has found a large quantity of ABEND messages from
Mainframe Connector into LOGREC. Most of the errors are related
to 0C7 and some about 0C4.
Stephen Wismayer explained that since the customer PDSE
containing the MQ copy members has a directory layout that AD is
not able to recognize it causing the ABENDS.

Problem summary

  • LISTENER TASK RECORDING 0C7 ABEND IN LOGREC

Problem conclusion

  • The user data field in some of the PDS/E directory entries
contained unexpected data that was causing the AD agent to
    interpret it as ISPF statistics.
This in turn led to a S0C7 when converting the data that was
assumed to be the member changed date, as well as a memory
access outside the SMDE control blocks causing the S0C4.
An extra check was added to ensure the user data field is
genuinely ISPF stats, and not being used for some other purpose.
