Prerequisites

Prerequisites include:

You must install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) before you install Rational DOORS and DOORS Web Access.

The Rational DOORS 9.6.1.10 client for Windows uses the JRE version 8 for document generation with Rational Publishing Engine and for the help system. You must install a 64-bit version of Java 8, which can be obtained from IBM. After installing, verify that your system has a JAVA_HOME environment variable that is set to the JRE install path; for example: C:\Program Files\IBM\Java8\jre.

To install Rational DOORS Web Access 9.6.1.10, you must first install the 64-bit version of Java 8, which can be obtained from IBM.

JRE for Linux is available on IBM developerWorks as part of the IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition. The JRE for Windows is available on IBM developerWorks as part of the IBM Development Package for Eclipse. See Detailed System Requirements for Rational DOORS and Rational DOORS Web Access for more information.

To obtain the latest JRE fixes from Fix Central, use https://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm%7ERational&product=ibm/Rational/Rational+DOORS&release=9.6.1.7&platform=All&function=all link.

Review the Version compatibility for Rational DOORS Web Access, interoperation server, Rational DOORS database server and client document prior to installation to ensure the client and server compatibility requirements are met in your environment.

Impact Assessment
Impact Description

This is a maintenance release. It contains fixes for customer-reported and internally found defects.

Test Results

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in an MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

If you are configuring local help, do not extract the IBM Knowledge Center to the Rational DOORS installation directory. Use another directory, such as C:\kcci. Deployment of the Knowledge Center to the product installation path might make it difficult to completely uninstall the product in the future.

Change History

What's new
  • This release includes the following enhancements:
    • Jazz™ Reporting Service (JRS) integration. JRS is the default reporting solution for Rational® solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM). The JRS Data Collection Component (DCC) can now pull data from Rational DOORS by using the new resource group type named Rational DOORS. In Report Builder you can see Rational DOORS requirements by linking to a Rational DOORS database project area with access through Rational DOORS Web Access (DWA). You can use the Rational DOORS working set, attribute and link type mapping, and the reportable shape to determine which data is available for reports. For more information, see Integrating Rational DOORS and Jazz Reporting Service.
    • DXL triggers for links, attribute definitions, and attribute types. These functions enable you to create triggers for any create/modify/delete actions on links, attrdef, and attrtype elements. Like all triggers, these include scope options for specific modules, projects, or the whole database. A pre- and post-event modifier and priority (1-10) can be applied. Supports for link triggers are for Rational DOORS internal links. Triggers on external links are not supported. For more information on DXL triggers, see the DXL Reference Manual chapter 29 in the Knowledge Center.
