Unable to set up SSO URL when attempting to log in to Cognos Analytics

Troubleshooting


Problem

Intermittently receive the error, 'Unable to set up SSO URL', while logging onto Cognos. It opens fine in a Private window or after clearing all cookies and cache. The issue tends to occurs during the first login attempt after a server reboot.

Resolving The Problem

Check the following...

1) Ensure that the Windows and Anonymous Authentication are set under the ibmcognos and sso applications as described in step 9 in the following document...

2) On IE, clear the browsing history...
Accessed Tools -> Internet Options-> Under General tab: Check the box “Delete browsing history on exit” -> Click Apply

3) Within IIS, select the ibmcognos application-> under IIS select HTTP Response Headers -> Under Actions select 'Set Common Headers'
There is an option of how soon they to expire which is dependent on your system requirements.
