Problem

IBM Connections installation could fail when installing the FileNet components on Windows Server 2016, you can check the file "install.log" to confirm the root cause of the failure

Environment

IBM Connections 6.0 GA with CCM on Windows Server 2016

Resolving the problem

Before you begin the CCM install review the help topic Installing IBM Connections

Follow the instructions below to install FNCE 5.2.1.5 and ICN 2.0.3.8 on Windows Server 2016:

  • Ensure there are no InstallAnyway registration entries for FNCE and ICN in file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zero G Registry\.com.zerog.registry.xml". The entries would look similar to the following:

  • Enable compatibility mode and run-as-admin mode for FileNet installers .exe files, for example, these commands can be modified to add entries to Windows registry, note that <FN_INSTALLERS_DIR> is the folder which stores all filenet installer exe files

  • If your installation previously failed for FileNet double check the following folders to ensure there are no remaining items which could caused additional FileNet failures:
    • Connections_root_dir\FileNet
    • Connections_root_dir\FNCS

    If those folders exist, try uninstalling FileNet first to clean up the installation and then remove any remaining files and folders in them. Also cleanup the Windows registry entries in key location for FileNet programs such as:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  • Once all the steps have been completed then you are ready to start a new installation of CCM feature on Windows Server 2016
