QRadar: Changing the network settings of a managed host or appliance

Troubleshooting

Problem

Changing the network settings of a managed host requires that it is removed from the deployment. Administrators can use the System and License Management interface to remove the appliance, update the network confirmation, then add the managed host back to the deployment using the new IP address. Administrators must a remote management, a VM Console, or physical connection to an appliance to update the network configuration.

Resolving The Problem

Before you begin

  • You must remove the manage host from the QRadar deployment before you can update the network settings of a QRadar appliance or virtual machine.
  • You must have local or remote access to the appliance to change the network settings. SSH is not allowed to update network settings on remote appliances. Administrators can use remote management (IMM) or their virtual machine console interfaces, or a crash cart to update network settings.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the QRadar Console as an administrator.
  2. Click the Admin tab > System and License Management.
  3. Highlight the Appliance to remove from the deployment.
  4. Click Deployment Actions > Remove Host.
  5. From the Admin tab, click Deploy Changes.
  6. Log in using a management interface, such as IMM, iDRAC, or a Console (physical terminal) connection.
  7. Enter the command qchange_netsetup.
  8. Click Y to proceed.
Note: the system will reboot when the changes are complete.
  9. Navigate through the screens and update the network Information.
  10. Click Finish to complete the Network Changes.
  11. Once the system has completed rebooting from the QRadar Web User Interface click Admin tab >System and License Management.
  12. Click Deployment Actions > Add Host.
  13. In the Add Managed Host interface, type new new IP address and password for the appliance.
  14. Click Add.
  15. From the Re-adding a Managed Host Menu use the drop-down menu and select the IP address for the Managed Host that you are adding back into the Deployment.
  16. Click Save.
  17. From the Admin tab, click Deploy Changes.
