How to Configure Planning Analytics Timeout Settings

Troubleshooting


Problem

The following page contains a consolidated view of the various timeout settings available to Planning Analytics. Please take in to consideration that timeouts allow the cleanup of inactive sessions, freeing up resources (memory) from various services to be used by active users. Timeouts set too high may have a negative impact on your environment.

Resolving The Problem


TM1 SERVER IDLE:
Default: 900 seconds ( 15 minutes )
Location: tm1s.cfg
Setting: IdleConnectionTimeOutSeconds=900

TM1 SERVER REST/HTTP:
Default: 20 minutes

CAM SECURITY:
Default: 3600 seconds ( 60 minutes )
Location: Cognos Configuration > Security > Authentication
Setting: Inactivity timeout in seconds

If a gateway is used to access Cognos Analytics, then check the various timeout settings in IIS:

TM1 WEB (before 2.0.6):
Default: 20 minutes

PLANNING ANALYTICS WORKSPACE PROXY TIMEOUT:
Default: 120 seconds ( 2 minutes )

Setting: ProxyTimeoutSeconds
