Abstract
This document describes important changes to the DRBD version used in Netezza appliances and changes to HPF upgrades.
Content
PureData System for Analytics appliances use the Distributed Replicated Block Device (DRBD) software to mirror critical data from the active host to the standby host. The initial version of DRBD delivered on the N100x, C1000, N200x, and N3001 appliances have defects that can be addressed only through a DRBD version upgrade. DRBD is delivered by HPF during factory installation and field upgrade.
Starting with HPF 5.5 and higher, all of the Netezza appliance models have a new common DRBD version (v8.4.4).
The HPF upgrades and the Red Hat upgrades must support the same DRBD version, and only one version of DRBD can be delivered in the releases. To ensure that the latest DRBD software files are delivered consistently, new upgrade restrictions are in effect. HPF 5.5.x upgrades are permitted only on previously released Red Hat versions for the PureData System for Analytics appliance family.
Beginning in April 2016, HPF 5.6 and HPF 5.3.6 expands upgrade support to the following Red Hat kernel levels:
