Following error while testing the datasource connection in DQM mode :

"XQE-CON-0007 XQE error encountered:
DPR-ERR-2002 Unable to execute the request because there were no connections to the process available within the configured time limit"

Troubleshooting


Problem

Installed and configured the new Cognos BI 10.2.2 Single Server environment on Linux machine. Got the error while testing the first datasource connection in DM mode : "XQE-CON-0007 XQE error encountered: DPR-ERR-2002 Unable to execute the request because there were no connections to the process available within the configured time limit" Cogserver.log shows that Query Service first faulted during start up : "ueryService failed to start with the following command-line arguments: [/opt/ibm/JAVA7.0/jre/bin/java, -Xms1024m, -Xmx1024m, -Xmnx512m, -Xmns512m, -server, -Xscmx100m, -Xshareclasses:cachedir=../data,name=cognos10%u,nonfatal, -Xmso512K, -Xcompressedrefs, " But in Cognos Connection Query service shows started.

Cause


Linux machine not able to resolve the machine name due to incorrect IP in the hosts file.

Resolving The Problem


Put the correct IP address of the machine within etc/hosts file , restart the machine and then start the Cognos service.
