Starting RTC Eclipse client results in java.lang.IllegalStateException error

Troubleshooting


Problem

After the IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) Eclipse client is started and loaded, an error "An internal error occurred during: "Computing local changes. java.lang.IllegalStateException" is displayed in a window.

Symptom



'Computing local changes' has encountered a problem.

An internal error occurred during: "Computing local changes".

Cause

The SCM metadata in the Eclipse workspace has become corrupt.

Resolving The Problem

To fix the corrupted SCM metadata:

1. In the RTC Eclipse client, click Window > Preferences > Team > Jazz Source Control > Sandboxes.

2. Click on Repair metadata.

If the above does not work, work-around the error by using a new Eclipse workspace:

  1. In the RTC Eclipse client, click File > Switch Workspace > Other ...

  2. Specify a new directory for your Eclipse workspace

  3. Click OK
