Question & Answer
Question
Why are the options to set a server port and import a license file, that were present for installing version 8.1.3, no longer present when installing IBM Rational License Key Server 8.1.4.x on Unix or Linux hosts?
Answer
The configuration panel where those options were set required the presence of a license file to import. The panel was removed to permit license server installation when the license file was not yet available.
After installing the license server, license can be applied into the license server in one or more of the following ways:
- Use the IBM Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to import the license file.
- Follow the process described at http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/api/content/nl/en-us/SSSTWP_8.1.4/com.ibm.rational.license.doc/topics/t_install_lic_unix.html#post_c to add the needed licenses and then start the license server.
- Edit the initialize.properties file, located at {Server install directory, usually /opt/IBM/RationalRLKS}/config/initialise.properties to set the LICENSE_DAT and LICENSE_PATH properties to the location of the license file(s). Then start the license server.
