Problem

Attempts to launch IBM Rational Functional Tester (RFT) results in error "The program can't start because gsk8ssl.dll is missing from your computer"

Symptom

The complete error message is as follows:



"The program can't start because gsk8ssl.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Cause

Since ClearCase 8.0.0.6 GSK8 is mandatory and was possibly introduced with CMI (Change Management Integration) , refer to 1633122: How to configure base ClearCase to use the Change Management integration with ClearQuest.

RFT 8.6

ClearCase 8.0.0.07

ClearQuest 8.0.0.07

Diagnosing The Problem

gsk8 folder is missing in the path C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\

Resolving The Problem

Solution 1 :
Refer 1633122: How to configure base ClearCase to use the Change Management integration with ClearQuest if you prefer to retain Rational ClearCase in the same machine.

Solution 2 :
Un-install ClearCase and ClearQuest from the machine.
