Question

How do you configure client side proxy settings in Eclipse to use with IBM Rational Team Concert(RTC)?

Cause

You would like the client to be connected through the proxy due to your organization security rules and configuration

Answer

Procedure:

To configure client side proxy settings in the Eclipse Client:
 
  1. From the Rational Team Concert application, open Window > Preferences, and select the General > Network Connections category.

    The following dialog opens:


     
  2. Select one of the following options:
  • Direct Active Provider: Select this option to connect to the server directly i.e. not through a proxy.
  • Manual Active Provider: Select this option if you wish to manually define the settings for your proxy server:
  • Native Active Provider: The settings that were discovered in the operating system are used.
  • HTTP proxy. Use this option to specify the server and port to use when making HTTP connections.
    If the port field is left empty, the default port 80 is used. If you Use this proxy server for SSL check box is selected, the HTTP proxy server is used for SSL connections as well.
  • SSL proxy. Use this option to specify the server and port to be used when making SSL connections.
    If the port field is empty, the default port 443 is used.
  • SOCKS proxy. Use this option to specify the server and port to be used when making SOCKS connections.
    If the port field is empty, the default port 1080 is used.
  • Proxy Bypass. Use this table to specify which hosts should not use any proxy but instead should always be connected to directly.
