Sametime install fails on checking server ID password

Technote (troubleshooting)


Problem

Sametime 8.5.2 upgrade hangs at "Wait while the install detects whether the Domino server ID has a password..."

Symptom

Upgrade from Sametime 8.5.1 to 8.5.2 hangs during the install process.


Environment

Windows 2008 R2, Domino 8.5.2

Diagnosing the problem

Took the following troubleshooting steps:

- Confirmed the server.id did not have a password.

- Checked Domino notes.ini and confirmed the KeyFileName and ServerKeyFileName point to the correct server.id.

- Server.id exists in the Domino\Data folder.

- Disabled all Notes programs running as a Windows Server Service, including diagnostics (NSD).

- Disabled the anti-virus from the OS.


Resolving the problem

While reviewing the notes.ini the following Domino debug is enabled:

debug_threadid=1

debug_capture_timeout=1

debug_show_timeout=1

DEBUG_INITTERM=1

Disabling these debug settings allowed the Sametime server upgrade to complete.
